'The Birth of Cool' was a project by West London charity Octavia. The project brought together young people to produce a creative response to the culture and fashion boom along the Kings Road between the 1950's and the 1980's. I worked with the young artists and creative director to co-curate the resulting exhibition of films, photography, and fashion designs produced by young artists. For the exhibition at 508 Gallery Kings Road I separated the areas into immersive zones of each period, a 1950s mantle displaying the photography, a 1960s living room with audio and olfactory smells, and a 1980s anarcho squat. I sourced props, additional fashion items, furniture/ lighting, fabric and wallpaper and also designed and made the accompanying zine for the show and banner.
